Ending Saturday mail understandable, many on South Shore say

QUINCY —

Customers at the Quincy and Braintree post offices reacted with a shrug after the announcement that the Postal Service planned to discontinue Saturday mail deliveries in August.

Most postal customers randomly interviewed at the two post offices Wednesday did not have a strong reaction to the end of Saturday delivery to homes and businesses, which the Postal Service said would save $2 billion a year.
