Nova Scotia mail sorting gets centralized

KENTVILLE — Customers of Canada Post in some areas of Nova Scotia will soon see changes in their mail delivery as the corporation closes several mail sorting and distribution centres.

Beginning Feb. 18, mail in nine locations, mostly towns, will be forwarded to Canada Post’s automated sorting facility in Halifax, corporation spokeswoman Anick Losier said in an interview Friday.

The move to consolidate mail sorting and processing in one central location stems from a 20 per cent decline in letter volume across the country over the past five years, Losier said.
