Postal service strike in Portugal

A strike by Portuguese postal workers, which began at 0:00 on Monday, saw the majority of workers staying at home with only 25% of the staff turning up for work.

According to a union source, about 75% of the workers adhered to the strike at the Lisbon, Porto and Coimbra postal centres. All 10 other unions had previously reached an agreement with post office management on Wednesday about pay rises, but the SNTCT said the management’s proposal was “offensive” which led to the scheduled the walk-out.
