Royal Mail gives stamp of approval to Isle of Wight-inspired Lewis Carroll

aliceTHE work of Isle of Wight-inspired writer Lewis Carroll has been commemorated in a series of stamps released by Royal Mail this week.

The stamps are based on the characters of Carroll’s children’s classic Alice in Wonderland, which some experts believe were inspired by Lewis Carroll’s frequent visits to the Isle of Wight, when he mixed with the creative greats of the Victorian Era in Freshwater.

It marks the 150th anniversary of the publishing of Alice in Wonderland.
