Netflix quietly switches to five day delivery

Engadget and several other media outlets report that Netflix has quietly stopped processing DVD shipments on Saturdays- going to a five day a week schedule for mailing the discs to customers.

netflixThe USPS may not have gone forward with its plans to kill Saturday mail delivery, but Netflix isn’t waiting. A few customers have noticed it’s no longer processing shipments on Saturdays, opting for a five day schedule instead. Company spokesman Joris Evers tells Engadget that it’s been transitioning in that direction over the past year and ended Saturday processing (usually a low volume day) entirely in early June.

Its a private company and can do as they please (within the law). Not sure this matters to most folks. Netflix is NOT the biggest customer of the USPS. I hope USPS keep Sat delivery forever…

netflix isn’t a private company. they are publicly held. not sure of this will effect netflix’s subscribers but I was one I’d be pissed.

I meant “private” as opposed to public as in civil or government. Surely if this bothers the share-holders things will change. Yes they are owned “by the public” thru stock holdings .. but I meant private in the business sense… 😀
