Nebraska postal worker accused of theft changes plea to guilty

A Fremont man accused of misappropriating U.S. Postal Service funds pleaded guilty to one count of the indictment.

Michael Peitzmeier, 49, originally pleaded not guilty on Aug. 19 to charges of misappropriation of postal funds and false entries and reports of monies or securities.

As part of a plea deal with federal prosecutors, Peitzmeier on Thursday changed his plea to guilty of making false entries and reports of monies or securities. In exchange, prosecutors will drop the misappropriation charge at the time of sentencing.
