Postcom reports that today’s Senate “markup” session to consider the Carper-Coburn bill that would have made the exigent price hike permanent, as well as allowing the USPS to take postal workers and retirees out of the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, was a dud:
The markup session adjourned after it was clear that a compromise on Section 301 was not possible.
Section 301 deals with the postal service’s rate setting authority. and includes the provision making the temporary “exigent” price increase permanent.
