NDP seeking emergency meeting on postal cuts

The NDP has called for an emergency House of Commons committee meeting to review Canada Post’s decision to eliminate door-to-door delivery, slash up to 8,000 jobs and jack up the price of stamps.

While the House of Commons adjourned Tuesday for the Christmas break, effectively shutting down all committee business until the end of January, the Opposition notes the shakeup at Canada Post came the following day, leaving no time to seek answers from government.
