Flyers Handed Out As Hunt Resumes For Masked Mail Carrier Robber

POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – Postal workers handed out flyers in Pompano Beach Tuesday morning as the search continued for a masked gunman who robbed a U.S.P.S. letter carrier Monday afternoon.

Police said the letter carrier saw the masked gunman and a short scuffle did ensue.

“He sees this masked individual, again we don’t know if it’s a male or female and they approached him with a gun with a “Scream” mask from the movies demanding the keys,” said U.S. Postal Inspector Ivan Ramirez. “And the fact that they said keys, he just reached into his pocket and gave him the keys.”

But officials believe the vehicle keys the robber took weren’t the actual target.

“At this time, that was not the case,” said Ramirez. “All you got away with, actually, the keys to the vehicle and not the master key. So we don’t have have a master key out there right now.”
