Mail theft

A Postal Service employee pleaded guilty Thursday to stealing retail gift cards and using them himself.

Tyron Marquis Walton faces a sentence of five years in prison and a fine up to $250,000. Walton pleaded guilty to the charge Thursday.

Walton, a postal service worker from 2007 to 2013, was charged with removing three Target gift cards from the mail, according to a factual resume filed with the plea agreement.

Postal customers began complaining about missing mail in January, and an initial investigation discovered Walton was using the missing Wal-Mart cards.

A sentencing date has not been set.
