Nebraska window clerk charged with theft of postal funds

The US Attorney for Nebraska announced yesterday that a grand jury had returned indictments against Michael Peitzmeier, 48, a lead window clerk (SSA) at the Fremont, Nebraska post office.

The government alleges that Peitzmeier, a postal employee since 1998, stole over $1,000 while on duty. A second indictment charges him with falsifying documentation to cover up the alleged theft.

If convicted, Peitzmeier faces up to 10 years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.
