Contract letter carrier arrested on drug charges

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A postal carrier and his friend are accused of buying illegal drugs from his mail vehicle in Bullitt County, authorities said.

Bullitt County sheriff’s officers arrested Joseph D. Mueller, 46, of Mount Washington, Ky., and Kayla Jones, age 21, of Mount Washington.

Officers say Mueller and Jones bought Oxycontin from an informant on Friday, after they arrived for the meeting in Mueller’s vehicle with U.S. Mail markings. Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Mike Murdoch said the transaction took place in a parking lot in Mount Washington. Officers later found marijuana and a pipe between pieces of mail during a search of the vehicle, he said.
