Olympics, weather, modernisation hit Royal Mail’s First Class performance

Royal Mail missed its delivery targets for First Class mail during the last year, partly as the result of disruption caused by the London Olympics.

The UK’s state-owned postal operator did meet its Second Class mail delivery target, delivering 98.5% within three working days. And, with an eye on all-important e-commerce growth, Royal Mail was well ahead of its on-time target for standard retail parceis, with 96.3% delivered within three working days against a 90% target.
