Post Office Ltd to cut Crown post office network by 20%

Post Office Ltd is looking for retail partners for 70 of the 374 remaining post offices that it owns itself.

The UK’s state-owned post office network, which demerged from the Royal Mail Group last year, said the move was part of its major business transformation programme, which has also seen plans to turn 6,000 post offices into new-style “Main” or “Local” outlets.

The 374 larger post offices owned and directly managed by Post Office Ltd are known as Crown Post Offices, and form a small fraction of the total 11,800-strong network of UK post offices overseen by Post Office Ltd, most of which are run by franchisees.
