USPS Assistant Treasurer pleads guilty to embezzlement

The Examiner reports that David Kosturko, the US Postal Service’s Assistant Treasurer for Banking and Customer Payments, has pleaded guilty to embezzling $17,000 from the USPS by filing bogus travel reimbursement claims. Kosturko joined the USPS in 2004. His base annual salary, not including bonuses, was $121,033.

Kosturko could face up to five years in prison, but according to the Examiner, six months is more likely, based on sentencing guidelines.
