IRELAND, Aug. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — A new parcel delivery concept designed to allow consumers in Ireland ultimate flexibility in terms of how they collect and drop-off packages has been launched.
Irish courier firm Nightline has built 20 banks of specially-designed lockers across Dublin that will allow customers to pick up consignments and leave packages for delivery when it is most convenient. Each location has 80 lockers which can be accessed around-the-clock.
The new initiative, which began operating at the start of July, has been welcomed by online parcel delivery specialist Parcel2Go.
“This represents a big step forward for the parcel delivery industry,” said Richard Mercer, marketing director at Parcel2Go. “Nightline’s new service is set to make it quicker and simpler for certain customers to access delivery services, and that has to be applauded.”
The new ‘parcel motels’ are expected to be a hit with the increasing number of consumers buying goods online. When ordering goods, customers simply enter the Nightline parcel motel address where they’d like their package delivered to, rather than their own address. They will then receive a text message through their mobile phone when the consignment has arrived and is ready to be collected.
“Parcel2Go’s goal has always been to provide customers with the most convenient, reliable and affordable parcel delivery services possible,” Richard Mercer added.
“Some consumers will find a standard delivery service more suitable, while others will find that this new scheme, that allows them to pick up goods from a self-service terminal of their choice, more convenient.
“We’re pleased to be able to offer a number of Nightline’s services through our website and believe that the more choice customers have, the better.”
