The Postal Service is a national treasure, but it needs an overhaul of top management. They do not have the skills to navigate the treacherous and rough course ahead. They have never learned the lesson that their most valuable asset is the hard working and dedicated people actually trudge door to door.

While I agree that the Postal Service is unfairly burdened – this would never happen to Wall St.- they need a promotion system that gets the right people to the strategic positions.

I’ve never heard of the Ed show until yesterday when I listened to a clip from his show on the Postal Service. Listening to this clip about the Postal Service has convinced me that I like what I hear from the Ed show. He seems to have a good handle on the Democratic perspective.

sounds to me like Issa wants the post office for his own business!! yea, they want to privatize usps so they can put ALL the money in THEIR pockets! all the people out of work already and no jobs opening up….yea let’s lay off some more people and THAT should get the economy going again, right?! they need to repeal the mandate for prefunding retiree benefits that no other govt. or corporation has to do and the usps would be fine!!!!!

I feel the same way about the Congress. We could program them to to the right thing, and we would not have all these partisan antics from either side. AND…..we could balance the budget.

At last!!!! Thanks for a great show…….Someone finally gets it.
Darryl l Issa’s plan has finally been revealed as the devious undoing of the Postal service, and I’m sure he takes pride in what he does.

Thank God someone is seeing through this smoke screen that the Republicans and Postal management are putting the American people through. The postal service is the poorest managed enity of the federal government. Most postal managers have no experience managing a business. They are mearly government workers who got a management job. They have no experience when it comes to managing a business (the USPS). Somewhere, I read a supervisior in the private sector manages an average of 19 people, the postal service supervisors mangage 10 people. That tells me the USPS is to top heavy and need to cut management not post offices.

WHAT A SAD SITUATION FOR MR. ISSA…HE HAS NO CLUE, ABOUT THE TRUTH BEHIND THE WORKINGS OF THE P.O. WHILE IT IS TRUE, THATM MGT. IS MUCH TOO TOP HEAVY, IT’S THE WORKERS, WHOSE SWEAT AND BROW, THROUGH EVERY TYPE OF CIRCUMSTANCE, HAVE DELIVERED MAIL SINCE BEN. EVEN RALPH NADER SEES AND UNDERSTANDS THE TRUTH IN MAKING THE POST OFFICE A VIABLE BUSINESS, IF HANDLED CORRECTLY. BUT GOVERNMENT PUTS IT GREED AND EGOES TO WORK EVERYTIME, WITHOUT CARING ONE BIT ABOUT THE TAXPAYERS, BUT THEIR OWN CAREERS, THEIR OWN BANK ACCOUNTS. THIS CAN AND WILL BE WORKED OUT. AND FOR THOSE LITTLE POST OFFICES IN THE BOON DOX, AND MOUNTAINSIDES…THEY SHOULD COME FIRST, NOT LAST. WHAT A DISGRACE, TO WANT TO PUNISH THEM FOR WHERE THEY LIVE. BUT IF THE GOVERNMENT FOUND GOLD IN THEIR BACK YARD, BETCHA UNCLE SAM WOULD BE THE FIRST ONE TO DIVE IN, TAKE THE BOOTY, AND PLACE A BEAUTIFUL SPANKING NEW POST OFFICE ON SITE, JUST AS LONG AS THE GOLD MINING WOULD PROSPER. WHAT HYPOCRITES! I’M SICK AND TIRED OF THE GOVERNMENT, AND ALL ITS’ LYING THIEVES, WHO ROB US DAILY OF OUR CONGRESSIONAL RIGHTS. AS FOR MR. ISSA AND HIS CO – HORTS…WHEN THE NEXT TRIP IS PLANNED TO SEND A ANOTHER SPACE SHIP IN OUTER SPACE, MAYBE SATURN, OR MARS, OR VENUS IS NEXT TO BE LANDED ON, I WANT MR. ISSA IN THE PILOT SEAT. THAT ‘S WHERE HE BELONGS…OR MAYBE BEHIND THE WHEEL OF A TRASH TRUCK, WHERE REAL WORKERS, WORK FOR A LIVING, NOT FROM A COZY DESK AND CUTE SECRETARY. SHAME ON YOU MR. ISSA, AND MAYBE YOUR JOB MAY BE REPLACED BY A SMARTER, COMPASSSIONATE ROBOT! SURE HOPE SO

I fully agree with all the previous posts I have read hear so far and can only hope the right thing will get done, though I’m not to optomistic that it will. Everything the government runs or touches always gets screwed up. What I don’t understand though is how an entity like the Postal Service, which has access to just about every mailbox, post office box, etc. in the USA, can’t get the truth about what is going on to the people and not have them just base their opinions on the 20 sec. sound bites and media bias. Why can’t the Postal Workers Union put together something smart, crisp and to the point, of what is going on and have it delivered to everyone? What are they going to do fire everyone involved? They’re looking to get rid of us anyway so what have we got to lose. If they want to tear up our contract, etc. why should we play by their rules, if there is even one against it? I say the best defense is a good offense so lets do something big and hit them with something they can’t stop. At the least it will make them answer some tough questions and get the real facts out there.

These congressman and/or senators have NO right to make decisions that would ultimately leave thousands of men and women unemployed. On top of that to retire anyone 55 (of which most are veterans) or older is definitely age discrimation. Are there not enough people already unemployed who cannot find jobs without releasing 120,000 to 200m,000 more. What about empathy for their families. How can upper management and congress be so cruel. Most have jobs that will see them through until they day they DIE !!
