Video: Mail carrier tries to save packages from being stolen

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Heroes work all different kinds of jobs, but a mail carrier isn’t one you wouldn’t expect to be a hero. One Topeka mail carrier’s reactions were something that saved a man from losing all of his packages.

David Cole says he was at work all day Thursday and was expecting three packages to be delivered.

Video: USPS Contract Driver Killed When Truck Flips on California Highway Spilling Packages

A driver hauling packages for the U.S. Postal Service flipped on its side in Danville, killing the driver and spilling boxes and boxes all over the highway, six days before Christmas.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident was reported on southbound Interstate 680 near El Pintado Road in Danville just before 4 a.m. on Monday. Sgt. Oscar Pacheco said the packages were headed for San Jose. Continue reading

UPS, FedEx Struggle to Keep Up With Surge in Holiday Orders

United Parcel Service Inc. and FedEx Corp. are straining to keep up with holiday shipping volumes that have blown past expectations, delaying the delivery of some of the millions of online orders shoppers have placed since Thanksgiving.

UPS has relocated hundreds of staff from its headquarters and other corporate offices to help at shipping hubs struggling to handle record demand, according to people familiar with the situation. Already in advance of the busy holiday season, both UPS and FedEx had extended delivery windows on some routes, suspended delivery guarantees and refunds for certain weeks and stopped promising to deliver express packages by a certain time in some cases.
