Video: Another LLV catches fire in Wisconsin

ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) – Firefighters responded to Theater Road in Onalaska where a U.S. Postal Service truck that caught fire on Monday afternoon. Onalaska firefighters told News 8 no one was injured in the fire. Some bystanders helped save the mail from burning. The call came in at about 3:45 p.m.

USPS truck burns in Manitowoc, some mail destroyed

Some letters and packages may not reach their destination after a fire destroyed a mail truck in Manitowoc.

At about 11:45 a.m., Tuesday, June 30, a United States Postal Service delivery vehicle caught on fire while the letter carrier was driving on Victoria Drive off Wisconsin 42.

“There was a loud explosion, and then flames started shooting out of (the vehicle),” Officer in Charge Roy Stobl said.

The carrier wasn’t injured, but some mail set to be delivered to customers and some outgoing mail was damaged or destroyed in the blaze.

LLV bursts into flames in Arizona

PHOENIX (KPHO/KTVK) -A mail truck caught on fire near Anthem Thursday afternoon, blocking a northbound off-ramp on I-17.It happened around 3:30 p.m., and the Anthem ramp was shut down for a short time.

Peter Hass, a spokesman for the U.S. Post Office in Phoenix, tells us that no mail was lost in the fire.

The driver was not hurt.

Fire engulfs mail truck in Washington state

Another LLV has gone up in flames, this time in southern Washington state:

The female United States Postal Service worker was driving along her route north of Battle Ground when she noticed smoke coming from the hood of the vehicle, said Clark County Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Mike Jackson.

She pulled over in the 31000 block of Northeast 95th Avenue and called 911 before getting all of the mail out of the truck.

“So, there was no mail damaged or destroyed,” said Peter Hass, spokesman for the USPS.

The LLV was destroyed.

Video: Mail truck catches fire along I-76 in Akron slowing the morning rush

I doubt I’m the only one who’s been thinking “gee- haven’t heard of any LLV’s bursting into flames recently”.

Wait no longer:

AKRON, Ohio – A United States Postal delivery truck caught fire this morning in Akron along Interstate 76 east near East Avenue around 7:10 a.m.

The driver told that she was transporting the delivery truck for maintenance when it began to smoke and caught fire.

She told that she had trouble getting the vehicle to the side of the road because other drivers would not slow down. Eventually she got to the side of the highway near the bottom of the East Avenue entrance ramp and got out of the burning truck uninjured.

Pennsylvania: Yet Another LLV Goes Up in Flames

A United States Postal Service delivery truck went up in flames along a busy Montgomery County, Pennsylvania road Tuesday afternoon.

The truck caught fire just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Route 309 and Greenwood Avenue in Wyncote, county dispatchers tell NBC10.

Thick black smoke and intense flames could be seen rising from the front of the small truck.

The driver was able to escape the vehicle without injury, officials said.

Utah: Another LLV goes up in flames

ST. GEORGE — A U.S. Postal Service mail delivery truck went up in flames Tuesday afternoon at the corner of 2410 South and 1800 East in St. George.

At approximately 3:40 p.m., members of the St. George Fire Department responded to the area after receiving reports of a vehicle fire, St. George Fire Deputy Chief Kevin Taylor said. When firefighters arrived, they discovered the mail truck fully engulfed in flames.

“The crews went on a fast attack and extinguished the flames,” Taylor said. “The cause of the fire appears to be a mechanical failure in the engine compartment.”

The Postal Service employee driving the truck was out delivering mail when the vehicle began to have engine issues, Taylor said. The vehicle then caught fire. The man was able to escape the vehicle without any injures.

The mail truck still had a load of undelivered mail on board, Taylor said, and much of it was lost.

Postal Service employees responded to the scene and retrieved what mail and packages had not been consumed in the fire before the truck was removed from the scene by a tow truck.
