Georgia rural carrier shot to death while delivering mail


The victim in the early morning shooting has succumbed to his injuries. The victim was a Rural Mail Carrier with the US Postal Service, out delivering mail.

The victims name is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin. The Banks County Sheriff’s Office is working diligently alongside Postal Inspectors and the Banks County Coroners Office. Further information will be released as it becomes available.

On Saturday, August 7, 2021 at approximately 0938 hours, Banks County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call in the 200 block of Hebron Road in Commerce regarding an intentional shooting. A white male was located on scene with a gunshot wound. The incident appears to be isolated and there is no immediate threat to the community.
