Tractor Supply CEO expects shift to e-commerce to continue

One of the largest retailers in rural America expects the recent rapid national shift to e-commerce will have a lasting impact on consumer supply chains.

Hal Lawton, chief executive of Tractor Supply Co. tells the WSJ’s Sarah Nassauer that the company rushed to bring the last 500 of its nearly 2,000 nationwide outlets delivery-from-store capability, the result of a rush toward digital sales as new restrictions upended consumer buying patterns.

Retailers are debating the durability of the push toward online commerce, but Mr. Lawton says he expects much of the shift to online buying will hold.
