60 P.O. boxes broken into at Oklahoma post office

OWASSO, Okla. (KTUL) — Bob Buss of Owasso has had his P.O. box for close to 15 years and he’s never had an issue, until Saturday morning.

“I was on my way into town anyway, so I told her I’d come by and check it out. And sure enough, I’ve got a box that’s been broken into,” Buss said.

His was one of 60 P.O. boxes that were broken into overnight.

The building is open 24/7 so people can access their boxes.

“Whoever did this took advantage of that. Went inside late at night and used a tool to pry open these boxes. So, the burglary didn’t occur until they actually pried open the boxes themselves,” said Owasso PD Lt. Nick Boatman.

“People breaking into P.O. boxes, which shocks me. I never would have guessed someone would come steal out of PO boxes,” Buss said.
