Jacksonville veteran tired of waiting for new mailbox from USPS

A Jacksonville disabled veteran said he’s been waiting weeks for the United States Postal Service to install a new community mailbox.

The cluster mailbox in the Cypress Cove subdivision was destroyed by a hit-and-run driver in January.

Since then, neighbors who used that mailbox have had to drive to the post office, which is about a four-mile round trip, to retrieve their mail.

“I don’t have time to go to the post office and wait for 20 to 40 minutes minimum just to pick up my mail,” Michael Wallington said.
