FORMER U.S. Postal Service employee Mark Champaco Tyquiengco was placed by the federal court on two years of probation, Thursday, for stealing a package at the Chalan Kanoa Post Office.
Tyquienco entered into an agreement with the U.S. government in July 2017, pleading guilty to theft of mail by a postal employee.
He was earlier indicted by a grand jury on charges of mail theft and theft of mail by a postal service employee.
The sentencing hearing on Thursday was presided over by District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona. Tyquienco appeared with his court-appointed attorney, Robert T. Torres, while Assistant U.S. Attorney James Benedetto represented the federal government.
The former USPS employee was ordered to pay a fine of $3,100 immediately following the sentencing.
