Letter carrier punched, threatened in Chicago suburb

Police said a U.S. Postal Service employee was sorting mail at the back of his truck on the 1500 block of Washington Avenue shortly after 12:45 p.m. April 4 when a man came up to him and said, “Hey, mailman,” then punched him in the face when he turned toward the attacker. The victim ran away from his attacker, but the man chased him, allegedly saying, “I’m going to kill you,” police reported. Nearby landscapers chased the attacker but couldn’t catch him. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injury, police said.
