NAPUS posts side by side comparison of pending postal reform bills

NAPUS has prepared a side-by-side comparison of H.R. 5714, the Postal Reform Act of 2016 and S. 2051, the Improving Postal Operations, Service and Transparency Act of 2015.

Last month, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee approved H.R. 5714 by a unanimous voice and S. 2051 is pending before the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee. H.R. 5714 has been referred to two other House committees and is awaiting a cost estimate by the Congressional Budget Office.

Both bills are bipartisan and serve the House and Senate vehicle for postal reform in the current congress. You may view the side-by-side comparison below, or download the original .pdf file via the link Postal Bill Comparison.

These bills do nothing but hurt postal retirees. Retirees will be forced to pay costly premiums for medicare part B currently 150.00 a month, and part D. We already have adequate coverage through FEHBP currently 148.00 a month for B/C B/S. Only postal retirees are being burdened with these extra forced costs. It’s absurd that NAPUS is doing nothing to protest these costs. I can tell you my membership will end when this passes
