Witnesses say Chicago home invader wore postal uniform

A woman was seriously hurt after being shot during a home invasion on the Southwest Side and at least seven others have been wounded in separate shootings in the city since Thursday evening, police said.

ct-59th-kenneth-invasion-0505-photo-20160505The woman was in her garden apartment on the 5900 block of South Kenneth Avenue in the West Lawn neighborhood at 4 p.m. when the three men broke into her home, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago police spokesman, citing preliminary information.

The 26-year-old woman was shot in the chest and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, Sweeney said. The men fled the scene.

According to police, one of the men was wearing a blue U.S. Postal Service uniform. A U.S. Postal Services police officer on the scene refused to comment.
