HOUSTON – A 53-year-old postal worker is recovering at Ben Taub Hospital after her mail truck was struck by a truck involved in a street race along Scott Street Saturday afternoon.
The family of Margarita Rodriguez told KHOU 11 News that she went through a six-hour surgery, but miraculously had no broken bones. Doctors told her family, they expect her to fully recover.
Rodriguez had been driving the same route for the last 16 years, and had become a fixture around the community.
An ambulance and emergency crews arrived within minutes. They took Rodriguez to Ben Taub Hospital in stable condition. The two alleged drag racers were arrested at the scene.
“They just stood there. They didn’t try to render aid or anything,” said a witness.
