Jim Richter, the blind Indianapolis man known as the Broom Guy, is allowed back on property at four north-side post offices under an agreement reached today, Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma said.
Richter, 78, had been booted in February from Indianapolis post office property where he had sold brooms for the past 60 years.
The action prompted a storm of local outrage and protest after IndyStar first published an article about the situation Saturday. The story of Richter’s plight also spread quickly across the U.S. via Facebook, Twitter and other social media.
Gov. Mike Pence and U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly also went to bat for Richter, reaching out to state and federal post official officials.
