Ohio postal employees save co-worker’s life

Several labor custodians at the Columbus, OH, P&DC were having lunch together recently when a member of the group, Ernest Wheelwright, began choking and lost consciousness.

Jeff Sperry and Kevin Martin worked together to perform the Heimlich maneuver on Wheelwright, while Deidre Patterson called 911 and Alan Mitchell notified the maintenance supervisor.

Wheelwright regained consciousness. Emergency medical technicians arrived and stabilized him.

“I want to thank everyone for their quick response and saving my life. Love and respect to them all,” Wheelwright said.
