BROOKHAVEN, GA (CBS46) -The U.S. Post Office made a slight change to the way addresses appear on envelopes in one zip code, but now people who live in the Buckhead section of Atlanta tell CBS46 that slight adjustment is causing big headaches.
Liz Shults lives in Buckhead, but if you look at her mail, you would think she lives in Brookhaven.
That’s because, about a year ago, the newly founded city asked the post office to name the 30319 and 30329 zip codes after them in honor of their independent status.
Previously every address in 30319 was considered “Atlanta.”
So what’s the big deal?
Liz Shults said she is “called to jury duty in DeKalb County and the city of Brookhaven on a regular basis — every six months. And I live in the city of Atlanta, Fulton County.”
