CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Seven people were injured after a car drove into a post office building in the 1400 block of North Battlefield Boulevard Monday afternoon.
The driver reportedly drove into the building from a parking space. Police believe she stepped on the gas instead of the brake.
“She came through the glass. It was a loud noise and everyone turned around to look,” said Kristy Stevens, who was inside with her three-year-old daughter at the time.
“There were giant pieces of wood and glass flying everywhere and it was God’s grace that we didn’t get injured,” she said.
But seven others, not including the driver, were sent to a local hospital. A police spkesperson said that no one was seriously hurt.
