Alaska mail processing clerk charged with stealing drugs from mail

The United States Attorney for Alaska has announced the indictment of James H. Dzimitrowicz, 47,  of North Pole, on charges of mail theft.  Dzimitrowicz was employed as a career mail processing clerk at the main post office Fairbanks, where the thefts are alleged to have occurred from July 2011 through  January 2014. Dzimitrowicz is alleged to have specifically targeted packages he believed contained prescription drugs.

Dzimitrowicz is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges on August 27.

    James Harold Dzimitrowicz Jr., 50, of Fairbanks, was charged with driving under the influence and second-degree indecent exposure Nov. 28 after Fairbanks police responded to a report of a man masturbating while driving a Subaru Legacy in the back parking lot of the South Cushman Street Tesoro station. Police responded and spoke to the caller, who said Dzimitrovicz had driven around the parking lot several times, stopped by his semi-truck several times and masturbated. The driver showed police photos of Dzimitrowicz with his pants dow. Dzimitrowicz denied masturbating and said he’d stopped at the gas station several times to by food. Dzimitrowicz smelled like alcohol and admitted to drinking three beers that day. He failed field sobriety tests. His breath-alcohol content registered 0.219.
