Video: U.S. Postal Service Contract Talks with Union Continue

After months of rallying and negotiation talks, the American Post Workers Union has yet to reach a contract agreement with the U.S. Postal Service.

According to Erie Local APWU President Joe Szocki, the two sides have been in mediation since June, after failing to reach an agreement by the May 20 deadline.”

After some initial results, the final package that they put forth financially, they wanted to create another entry-level position at lower wages,” said Szocki.  “We could not accept that.”

How about a lower level of postal management? Oh, they already have that, what with all the CCAs and PSEs being placed into supervisory roles.

The union says they have been in mediation for a month now but they can’t be in mediation since no mediator has been appointed.Looks like since both sides know mediation won’t result in a contract like last time with the NALC,they are waiting out the 60 days until they can move on to binding arbitration.
