Pennsylvania postal worker accused of stealing funds

JOHNSTOWN – A Clearfield County postal employee faces federal charges for allegedly stealing funds from Post Office money orders, according to the Department of Justice.

In a news release, U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton said 28-year-old Christina Belko, also known as Christina Sopic, took money from customers who’d bought money orders and kept it for herself while she ran the Woodland Post Office.

The U.S. Post Office Office of the Inspector General carried out an investigation before federal authorities filed the charges.

Belko could face up to a year in jail and a $100,000 fine if convicted, Hickton said.
