LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) — Temperatures dropped to a new low Tuesday, delaying schools and work for many around Metro Louisville, but that wasn’t an option for employees with the United States Postal Service whose job it is to work through the worst of conditions.
Mike Hartfield began his route at 8 a.m. trekking through ice and snow in subdivisions off Crittenden Drive.
"I love it. I love being in the outdoors, although the winter time has come a little sooner this year," Hartfield said. "I like the walking route."
Even on a day temperatures plummeted into the single digits, and wind chills neared zero, Hartfield kept up his usual pace.
