RACINE — Nicole Gossett didn’t get much sleep the other night.
"It shook my house," Gossett said. "I was scared, i didn’t know what it was."
Just after midnight early Monday morning, an explosion outside her home on Southwood Drive startled Gossett out of bed. The mother of three checked on her boys and ran outside.
"First, it looked like a pile of garbage and then I realized the one mailbox was completely blown apart," Gossett said.
Racine police arrived soon after. Officers think vandals used a powerful firework to blow up the neighbor’s mailboxes.
"What do you do? You replace it," building owner Sharon Wolf said Wednesday.
