New York letter carrier helps sick customers

From USPS News Link:

When Syracuse, NY, Letter Carrier John Cloonan is on his route, he always checks on a couple who are in their 90s.

On a recent day, Cloonan noticed the husband seemed confused and wasn’t sure where his wife was. Cloonan called 911, then went next door to ask a neighbor to call the couple’s son.

Cloonan stayed with the couple until their son and the first responders arrived. They found the man was very ill and his wife had fallen in the shower and was unable to get up.

The couple now is recovering.

“It was a happy ending” Cloonan said. “I try to take care of my customers as best I can.”
