Continuing Resolution won’t include action on USPS

House Republicans are back to their old game of holding the country hostage by refusing to fund the government for more than a few weeks or months at a time. The latest “Continuing Resolution” will run only until December 11. The bill includes money to resolve problems at VA hospitals, but ignores the USPS:

The measure avoids more controversial provisions, such as addressing the U.S. Postal Service’s plan to close 82 facilities nationwide in 2015. A majority of senators and 160 House representatives wrote to their respective appropriations committees asking that any spending bill delay closures for one year.

If they would get the prefunding thrown out the PO will be ok but they are using this as a cash cow!

No surprise the Repub controlled Congress wants to see it’s demise.

Republicans hold control in the House, not the Senate which is Democratic.

2008, 2009, and 2010 the Congress and White House were democratic controlled why didn’t they do away with PAEA?

Funny how everyone tries to blame the Republicans in the House for everything. But you never hear on the liberal media that the house has passed over 300 bills which have been sent to the Senate for debate and a vote but Democrat Harry Reid has basically buried them and wont even let them come up for debate . He’s afraid something might pass. Forty of them are jobs bills….

  • common sense

You might want to check your facts- the President in 2008 was George W. Bush- I’m pretty sure he was a Republican. The Democrats had majorities in both houses in 2008, but they were not veto-proof or filibuster-proof.

Thanks to the filibuster, it doesn’t matter if you have a majority in the Senate unless you have 60 members. Democrats have not had full control of the Senate (60 members) since 1978.

You’re right! It is pretty funny! Especially since every one of those 300 bills were to repeal Obamacare!

You realize you are dealing with Obamazombies, who tend to ignore facts like this.

  • common sense

Especially when the “facts” are made up!

Just getting rid of the prefunding, which doesn’t go into employees retirement will not make the PO ok, Downahole and his cronies need to go and more oversight is needed from the BOG.

5.5 billion dollars a year would put a huge dent in it!

  • sickofidiots

That is exactly right!!!! The GOP in the House and Senate have attempted to pass NO bills that would add jobs to our economy! And Thank God Reid shot down whatever bills they tried to push through the Senate! For if he hadn’t, we will all be sleeping in cardboard boxes, begging for food, while those GOP morons and their corporate bosses live high on the hog!

GOP supporters have a way of chastising Democrats, but I have yet to see ONE of them come forward with a better plan! Not one! I want to see proof that any GOP in the House or Senate came up with any legislation to create jobs!! That is absolutely not true, yet they still pull the wool over the GOP supporters eyes!!!!!
