Letter carrier finds young man dead at East St. Louis home

EAST ST. LOUIS — A letter carrier found a young man lying dead late Wednesday morning in the front yard of the victim’s home at 837 N. 73rd St. in East St. Louis, police said.

James J. Hines, 22, was found before 11 a.m. Wednesday, East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Floore said. He had been shot, making him the city’s 15th homicide victim this year.

East St. Louis Assistant Police Chief Ronald Ike said a letter carrier discovered the body and called police.
