Pennsylvania letter carrier flown to hospital after being hit by car

Butler PA — A U.S. postal carrier was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital Saturday afternoon after she was struck by a car along West New Castle Street.

Fire Chief Nick Ban said the 51-year-old woman, whose name was not available, was crossing New Castle Street near its intersection with Sixth Avenue when she was struck by a silver car about 12:15 p.m.

Ban said the woman suffered moderate injuries to her shoulder, arm and legs. She was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital before being flown by Stat MedEvac, reportedly to UPMC Presbyterian hospital.
