“American Job Killers”: Issa would lay off 200,000 postal workers

Congressman Darrell Issa has set up a web site he calls “American Job Creators” to promote his agenda of rolling back health and safety protections for American workers. But when it comes down to actual jobs, Darrell is much more interested in putting Americans out of work:

The California Republican reiterated at a Monday event that he believes his USPS legislation would allow the agency to shed as many as 200,000 workers in the next few years

Go ahead, lay off 200,000 postal workers…. I hope the economy of the states can handle the unemployment money they will have to pay out. On top of that, what about the loan defaults and house foreclosures that will result. Yup, makes a lot of sense ISSA!! I’ll sit on my ass after being laid off by you and the taxpayers will have to support me and my two kids instead of me going to work and making a living. I’m sure the country and the state economy can handle those lay offs. I’m so glad elected officials are so brilliant. And look at his record and the state he’s from!

  • bob komar

issa you are an ass hole you and any of your crony dopes with more than 8 years service or 60 years of age SHOULD HIT THE ROAD!..face first preferably!

  • Joe Shevlin

    Is this guy an idiot?

  • btm

Issa I hope you are found guilty of corruption and all you are charged with! You are corrupt and a worthless human being!

  • tom cruise

How in the hell and going to deliver and process the mail? With the so-called declining mail volume we cant get the mail out in 6 days with the people we have now. This is all crazy talk

  • commonlaw

Read the entire bio……what a piece of work

  • dwayne fitzgerald

Issa is brilliant!!! Then I can keep my 204b job. Haha

  • Tampa Steve

If these idiots destroy the postal service, small towns will be wiped off the map. It will be destructive to the entire economy. Issa and Ross know it is not the right thing to do, but their agenda is to destroy the unions with help of our so-called postal leaders. The Republicans and Postal management are co-conspirators and they should be held accountable.

  • mr zip

issa for real?????? Web says he’s the richest congressman in Washington. Go figure$$$$$$$$$$$

  • Phil

Why does Issa want to destroy the postal service? Has anyone investigated this? Does he stand to make money from privatizing the post office? I don’t understand what we gain from losing hundreds of thousand more jobs.

  • Dave

This issa guy is only goggling our postal business without a clue. What does he know? Oh! postal general is keeping him inform? If they would only give us back the retirement over payments the post office would be in the black and not in the red and all empolyees would keep our jobs!

  • randall

The mail business is over 60 Billion dollars a year. Add to that the enormous assets the USPS has(land, buildings, vehicles, machines etc). No doubt it is being destroyed on purpose, so that it can be privatized. The new “owners” will slash wages and benefits to Wal-mart levels and put the difference in their own pockets. Someone will become very very wealthy from the privatization. Kinda like the Oligarchs in Russia.

  • Helen

There’s barely enough people to carry the mail now,
Congressman Issa. This would be the destruction
of the post office. You’re trying to impress someone?
These actions prove ineptitude, or malicious intent
to destroy the service which supports the economy
    and untold Americans.

  • mike

Issa————–YOU ARE A FIRST CLASS ASS.

  • Karen

I’m glad to see people are starting to wake up and hit the streets to protest the demolishing of the middle class by the wealthy elite – i.e. the recent demonstrations in New York and other major cities. It looks like it’s going to take a real “tea party” to take this country back! Here here!!! This is yet another blatant attempt to undo unions and wages of middle class people.

  • Micster

Issa is a watchdog of Obama looking for dirt. If you read Issa’s history you find nothing worthy but dirt. Issa moved alot of dirt paving roads in his district leading to a building he owns and now can easily lease. All the while utilizing tax payer money moving that dirt. Issa has the mentality of a third world leader. Corrupt and dirty while accumilating money for himself and leaving his country behind on the dirt. Issa started the Viper car alarm corporation. He wanted to keep people like himself and his brother from stealing cars. The dirtbags! I’m sorry people but Issa is dirty and un American. The majority of constituents in his district are Asian. Wake up my Asian brothers and sisters and vote Issa out. For soon he will be throwing dirt at you!

  • Mike B

Cut management,we are way too overstaffed. If you go to five days delivery, you lose money when your closed. Then someone else will deliver the parcels, and then the post office will be hollering about another bad decision they made!Decrease unemployment, don’t add to it! Save the letter carriers the backbone of the P.O.!!!

  • Mike

Maybe this guys wife ran off with the mailman. He sure hates the USPS.

  • guest

THIS GUY AND HIS BUDDY IN FLORIDA ARE COMPLETE IDIDOTS. IF WE GOT WAY TOO MANY EMPLOYEES, WHY THE HELL IS THE USPS HIRING THOUSANDS OF PSE’S ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY? ISSA IF YOU KNOW HOW TO READ, ANSWER THAT QUESTION. HE WANTS TO CUT OUR HEALTH CARE WHEN HE GETS HIS FOR NOTHING FOR LIFE. USPS DOES NOT USE ANY TAX DOLLARS, BUT HE’S STEALING TAX DOLLARS EVERYTIME HE CASHES HIS CHECK. HE’S A DAMN HIGH SCHOOL DROP OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT A RICH ONE.

  • Paul

why don’t dumb ass issa create this same stupid ass plan in congress, where some of the members has to be propped up in the chamber. This guy doesn’t have a clue, I’ll bet he has an interest in privitizing the post office. He’s a crook from the letter’ C’. They’ll never investigate his dumb ass. THEY SHOULD.

  • whitler

The polititians LIE the press LIE…WE SHOULD LIE.
September 27th got little press coverage in Boston Area, its time to tell AMERICA that the POSTAL OVERPAYMENT is TAXPAYER money and it is for a POSTAl SERVICE the GOVERNMENT wants to destroy. America may then be on our side, most ppl think thier taxes pay us anyway…….

  • whitler

Nobody else can come up with the argument….WHY ARE WE PAYING FOR SOMETHING 75 YEARS INTO THE FUTURE WHEN YOU WANT TO DESTROY IT IN THE NEXT 5 YEARS.

  • Mr_Postman

INCREDIBLE..! I just read the Wikipedia biography on Darrel Issa at – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darrell_Issa and I cannot believe anybody like him could ever get elected to Congress except… in the state of California! I don’t know how anybody in their right mind would vote for and listen to someone with such a flawed character. I’ve worked a good honest job at the USPS for over 28 years to support my family. I don’t have any “mistaken” or “alleged” items in my past. Issa and his brother were car thieves. Who else could be an expert in car alarms than a former car thief? If Issa were the Postmaster General, he’d probably fire everybody, burn down all the post offices in the country to collect on the insurance money, give himself a billion $$$$ bonus, and run for president!

  • SJ

I agree withi Paul – Issa has no clue of the impact his plans would have on the United States citizens that don’t have the kind of money that he has. The people hurt the MOST by his plans would be the poor and the elderly. Obviously he doesn’t care about those people. Regardless of what he says, not everyone in the United States has a computer or internet access. Many people rely on the Postal Service as their only mode of communication with friends and relatives and the only way they pay bills and receive information regarding their home, health and life.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Issa did have investments in the companies that would be able to take over mail distribution if the Postal Service was destroyed. What he doesn’t let people know is that if the Postal Service went under privitized, people would not only be paying more for postage, they would most likely be paying for the ‘privelege’ of having mail delivered to their homes – or would have to go to a centralized center to pick up mail – quite similar to a ‘General Delivery’ situation which would take the United States public back in time in regards to the service they would receive. What a shame that someone as idiotic, egotistical and self-centered has such a large voice in this day and age.

  • willie ocasio

how in the world did the people of California elected such an arrogant idiot to serve their district. I hope those letter carriers that place a vote for him are very sorry today. If any postal worker vote for this person, take a good look in the mirror, shame on you. Write a letter to this bastard and let him know how betreyed you feel, and do everything possible to get rid of the bastard. thanks

  • Dale McConnell

Issa get ready for all the lawsuits for age Dis. Under Federal Law & EEO age Dis.

  • Yuri

the continuing malice and destructive intent in the nature and content of Issa’s comments and actions betray a hatred of the Postal Service and its employees that goes way beyond the bar and should be obvious to all and investigated. It simply does not make sense and would lead to catastrophic results for the economy and small businesses that rely on the Postal Service and devastate a very significant portion of the country’s working population. Why is no action being taken against this man, like a mandated psychological evaluation? This is madness.

Has anyone seen Inglorious Bastards? Lot of resemblances to Hans Landa. What do these people really think. How are we going to get out of this recession? JOBS!!! Not eliminating them!!!

  • ricoh

Been carrying mail for 31+ years now! We don’t have enough people here in central PA to carry the mail 6 days a week. We are working 10+ hrs everyday.
Declining mail? Maybe. But our parcel business has really taken off and that’s a good thing. They haven’t hired anyone in years. There not going to either.
So we do more work with less people and we still get the same old thing! You people aren’t doing enough. They can KISS MY A**! I feel better now.

  • Proud Letter Carrier

Listen, No man can put their finger over the sun. So, there will be a judgement day, soon. Rain, Sleet, Snow, Hail, or Issa. We are going forward without you. Remember, for every action there is an opposite or equal reaction. I believe you are having an opposite reaction of your job slashing techniques. Issah is trying to remove the only human face of the Federal Government which are the Letter Carriers of America as well as other postal employees. Seriously, you need medication. Perhaps, you should take you medication more regularly or keep smoking your legal mariajunia in California—Please stay out of Washington D.C..

  • jacko

The post office have paid this morron some money to stirred up this negative nonsense. They used this as a leverage to scared the hard working people for the up coming contract. Everyone come down, there are no laid off at all. This is just a tactic they used for negotiating the contract. If 220,000 employees were laid off, the whole economy will collasped and there will not be any letter carriers to carry mail but supervisors, postmaster and 204b…….more than that, if laid off happens, guess who will be in front of this morron’s office with the picketing sign….chill out everyone…thought and prayer to all the letter carrier…….one love…..

  • PTF Clerk

Postal workers overpaid? Really, I am a PTF clerk, work 6 days a week. I have done this for the past 16 years. I get no break during the day. I don’t get paid holidays. I can go on and on but what’s the use? I make far less than the “average $55,000” paid Postal Worker. How did they come up with this number? If I get laid off you can bet they will get my house back. Others I work with say the same thing.

  • Timbo

All right, it is time that the postal supervisor who slept with Issa’s mom to come forward and announce that Issa is your child. Give him a hug, tell him your sorry and tell the letter carrier, for his residence’ not to kick his dog, again.

  • Customer

    Yep

  • Asshole

Yup, makes a lot of sense ISSA!! I’ll sit on my ass after being laid off by you and the taxpayers will have to support me and my THREE kids instead
